Due to Year of Hope carpet renovations in the Main Sanctuary, on every Shabbat through the end of the year, Services will be held in the Levy Auditorium, and Kiddush will be held in the Elias Room.

Tours of Shearith Israel provide a unique opportunity to learn more about America’s first Jewish Congregation—Shearith Israel—and view ritual objects dating back to the Colonial period. We are pleased to lead you through our beautiful space with enlightening facts about our proud history and unique traditions.
You may take photographs and videos as long as they are for private, noncommercial use. Thank you for respecting our policy.
Free Tours – Given monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month (except on observed Jewish and Federal holidays)
Individuals and groups are welcome to attend a free, guided tour on the second Wednesday of every month at 5:45 pm (prior to Evening Services), led by Rev. Z. Edinger. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person, although any amount is appreciated. Tours generally last 45 minutes.
Private Tours
Alternatively, we do our best to accommodate private groups for a specific time or theme of focus at a flat rate of $100 per group, with a cap of 25 participants per group. To arrange a tour for your group, please submit our form (click here) or contact our office manager at 212.873.0300 x230 at least three weeks prior to your planned visit. It is also possible to arrange group visits to Shearith Israel to attend Shabbat morning services, as well as weekday services. Please note that tours do not take place on major religious or federal holidays.
Accessibility
We have wheelchair stair climber to enable those in wheelchairs to access our sanctuary and historic spaces. To take advantage of this service, please contact our office manager prior to your tour at 212-873-0300 x230 or info@shearithisrael.org to arrange for assistance.
Public Transit
The synagogue is located on the corner of 70th Street and Central Park West. You can enter at 2 West 70th Street. We are accessible by the B, C trains at the 72nd Street stop as well as the 1, 2, 3 trains at the 72nd Street stop.
Security
Visitors should avoid bringing large bags or packages into the building and be prepared for a security check upon arrival.
