Head of the Cellular Therapy for Cancer Department
Soroka University Medical Center
Dr. Uri Greenbaum attended medical school in Beer Sheva and went on to a residency in internal medicine and a sub-specialty in hematology at Soroka University Medical Center.
After completing board certification in Israel, Dr. Greenbaum was the first fellow in a new program at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. The two-year fellowship was a clinical and research program in cellular therapy for cancer, a novel therapeutic approach for treating malignancies using the immune system.
In August 2021 Dr. Greenbaum returned to Soroka Medical Center and initiated a cellular therapy program, focusing on CAR T therapy for lymphoma and leukemia. He has since treated patients in the underserved Negev region with this novel therapy and is now planning to expand the service to experimental therapies and local production of the treatment, enabling state-of-the-art care for his patients.
He is also a lecturer at Ben-Gurion University and has published scientific papers in journals in the field of hemo-oncology. He now consults for companies on cellular therapy.
