Featuring a special program by Baruch-Lev Kelman on L’Educatrice Israelita: Flora Randegger
Friday Evening, September 20 | Following Evening Services | Ages 21-35
Services at 6:45 pm
Dinner at 7:45 pm
The year is 1856. A young teacher from Trieste, Italy, Flora Randegger journeys to Israel on a mission to revitalize Jerusalem’s first school for girls. Met with local opposition and threat of herem, Flora persevered. Her diaries convey not only inspiring scenes from her life, but also a distinct Jewish philosophy of education which is well worth revisiting.
Join Congregation Shearith Israel’s Young Professionals as we enjoy a delightful Shabbat dinner with this fascinating program.
We’d love for everyone to join us for services, but if you cannot make it, you are still most welcome to join us for dinner.
