As we collectively reel from hurtful and scathing accusations leveled at Judaism in recent months, we are overcome by a burning desire to vindicate our heritage, to understand Judaism’s relationship with the world, its perceived insularity, and its steadfast resistance to universalist ethics. Incredibly, answers tendered seven hundred years ago to eerily similar accusations may be a source of succor.
