Reflections on a Weekend which we Commemorate Kristallnacht, Mark Veterans Day,
and Ponder the Future”

If any of our congregants are visiting Newport on this special Shabbat, we’d be delighted to have you join us to experience four powerful talks by Rabbi Meir Soloveichik, one uplifting concert by Magevet, and an abundance of unity and togetherness.

PROGRAM

Friday, November 7

  • 4:10 PM Evening Services, followed by “Friday Night Lights” an inspiring talk as we transition from the workweek to Shabbat by Rabbi Soloveichik
  • Shabbat Dinner for pre-registered guests. Private location, ~20 minute walk from Touro 

Saturday November 8

  • 8:45 AM Morning services, with a sermon marking Kristallnacht by Rabbi Soloveichik
  • Shabbat Lunch for pre-registered guests. Private location, ~20 minute walk from Touro 
  • 4:10 PM Minha followed by Rabbi Soloveichik’s talk and Arbit

Sunday, November 9

  • 2:00 PM Rabbi Soloveichik ‘s Semiquincentennial Lecture Series installment: “The Touro Synagogue and America at 250: A Reflection on the Past and Future of American Judaism”
  • 2:30 PM Magevet, Yale’s premiere Jewish acapella group performs music honoring both occasions, Kristallnacht, and Veterans Day
  • 3:30 PM Collation with light refreshments and tributes to Brown as they mark 130 years of Jewish life on campus. We will walk together (~10 mins) to the venue: Newport Art Museum, 76 Bellevue Ave

Guests are welcome to attend all of Sunday’s programming at no charge.

Guests who join for Shabbat programming are responsible to make their own travel and lodging arrangements. Relaxed shabbat meals (Friday dinner and Saturday lunch) are available by advance registration at a charge of $50 per person, per meal.

*Meal fee waived for registered CAI members
