We invite you to commemorate the High Holidays at Shearith Israel. Learn about our special traditions, see our safety precautions and your health responsibilities, view prayer schedules, reserve seats for services, and explore classes and lectures delivered by our clergy.
This year, Rosh HaShana begins on Sunday evening, September 25, through Tuesday, September 27, and Kippur is on Tuesday evening, October 4, and Wednesday, October 5.
On Rosh HaShana and Kippur, the sanctuary takes on a special aura of purity and holiness. The Torah scrolls are dressed in white silk cloaks, and the Myer Myers Rimonim grace the Torah scrolls.
It is our custom to make memorial offerings during Kippur services and offerings of thanksgiving on Succot. These offerings are a beautiful way to memorialize or pay tribute to loved ones and help maintain our synagogue.
