While this year will be different from all other years, we invite you to commemorate the High Holidays at Shearith Israel. Learn about our special traditions, see our safety precautions and your health responsibilities, view prayer schedules, reserve seats for services, and explore classes and lectures delivered by our clergy.
This year, Rosh HaShana begins on Monday evening (Labor Day), September 6, through Wednesday, September 8, and Kippur is on Wednesday evening, September 15 and Thursday, September 16.
On Rosh HaShana and Kippur, the sanctuary takes on a special aura of purity and holiness. The Torah scrolls are dressed in white silk cloaks, and the Myer Myers Rimonim grace the Torah scrolls.
For members and friends who are unable to hear the shofar during services, we will be offering a separate outdoor shofar blowing service.
This year, Rabbi Soloveichik will be delivering a one-two punch of inspiring Shabbat Teshuba content, with one in-person address on Shabbat Teshuba itself, and a major livestream lecture on the Tuesday before Kippur.
Preview our powerful and unique Spanish and Portuguese liturgy for Rosh Hashanah and Kippur.
It is our custom to make memorial offerings during Kippur services and offerings of thanksgiving on Succot. These offerings are a beautiful way to memorialize or pay tribute to loved ones and help maintain our synagogue.
Click here to purchase your lulab set ($68 per set) by September 12.
Pickup will be at the synagogue. For details, please contact Zachary Edinger at zedinger@shearithisrael.org.
