The servi ce begins on this occasion with the hazzan reciting the blessing "bore meo re haesh." On Sunday evening\, the fast is concluded with habdala over a c up of wine\, without spices and without a candle. He received his Master’s degree in Arabic and Islamology from th e University of Leiden. After subsequently earning a Bachelor’s degree i n education\, he taught Comparative Religion at Ichthus Teachers’ Colleg e in Rotterdam. More recently\, Rabbi den Hollander received semikha from Rabbi Eliyahu Ben Haim and from Yeshiva University. He teaches Jewish lite rature at Hunter College.
