Hanukkah

Evening services during Hanukkah include the lighting of our historic Hanukkah lamp, dating back to the First Mill Street Synagogue of 1730. Congregational tradition has it that this Hanukkah lamp, fashioned in the style popular in Holland during the latter 17th and early 18th centuries, is among our oldest artifacts and might possibly have been brought here by the earliest Jewish settlers in New Amsterdam in the 1650s.
